How does an idea become law in Florida? What happens when a bill is filed? Why do citizens' voices matter? Whom should citizens contact to make their voices heard?League of Women Voters of Citrus County (LWV Citrus) invites the public to join on us Wednesday, February 5, at 7:00 PM for a nonpartisan, online meeting that will help to answer these and other questions about making laws in Florida. This timely session precedes the start of Florida’s legislative session which formally begins on March 4th…but bills are already in progress in Tallahassee. Our speaker will be Deborah Daniels, a retired educator from Crystal River Middle School. Through her work as legislative liaison for her professional organization, along with other community organizations,
Deb has accrued extensive experience with the legislative process. She has taught many interested citizens the details of how the Florida Legislature is organized, how they pass laws, and the many steps that occur between a bill’s proposal and its final outcome. Equally important is her emphasis on how citizens can get involved and interact with their local and state legislators. There will be time for Q & A.The public is welcome to participate this nonpartisan Zoom meeting. Advance registration is required. Interested persons should go to llwvcitrus.org/upcoming events.
